The detector continuously monitors the room for smoke development and ensures that the free-swing function of the door closer is automatically disabled upon smoke detection, so that the door closes safely.
This ensures the installation complies with the applicable requirements for fire and smoke compartmentation in commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, and public buildings.
Under normal conditions, the door remains easily and freely movable thanks to the free-swing door closer.
As soon as the smoke detector senses smoke:
-the free-swing system is immediately switched off
-the door closes controlled by spring force
-the fire- and smoke-resistant function of the door is restored
This helps to limit smoke spread and increases the safety of people and property.
